With fairly light winds today, Dave and I decided to try an inside reef - Hens and Chickens. I had not been there in 5 years. Usually the visibility is quite poor, but we hoped with a few days of light winds we might find better visibility. Lisa decided to join us and snorkel from above while we dove.
When we arrived there were only a couple of other boats and just slight chop and the visibility comparatively good. Unfortunately, as I geared up I realized I had left my mask back at the house. Normally I carry a spare in my dive bag, but I had switched dive bags recently. So Dave hit the water alone as did Lisa. She was kind enough to lend me her mask after she had enough snorkeling. Hens and Chickens this day was up to 40-50 ‘ visibility, but few fish. I did get some good coral shots. This reef has some unique coral structure, both hard and soft, that you don’t see elsewhere.. With a leaking mask, my dive was over in 20 minutes.
